As many of you may know, 1st April – 7th April is World Autism Awareness Week and Westfield Shopping Centre, along with many buildings all over the world, will be lighting up blue to help raise awareness for autism.

Queensmill School, along with the National Autistic Society – West London Branch, has been given a wonderful opportunity to host a charity desk at Westfield Shopping Centre in order to help raise autism awareness. The desk will be located on the ground floor outside of Debenhams and Queensmill students and staff, along with NAS and parent volunteers, will be helping to run the desk throughout the week.

Many shops, including John Lewis and Waitrose, will also be participating in World Autism Awareness week and are very kindly donating to our Friends of Queensmill charity. These donations will be put towards school fund to help us refurbish the wet play room, purchase IT equipment and other resources for the children and young people.

If you find some time, please come visit our desk at Westfield Shopping Centre from 1st April to 7th April. Queensmill students will be participating during school hours and staff outside school hours and during the weekend.

If you would like to donate, please click on the link below.

Queensmill students spend time working with Flute Theatre

Before the Easter break, pupils spent a week working alongside Flute Theatre as they rehearsed their production of A Midsummer Night's Dream.  Through sensory games, students encountered Shakespeare's poetic exploration of how it feels to be alive, focusing on how people see, think and feel.  Flute went on to perform their show at the Bridge Theatre the following week.  Groups of students travelled to London Bridge to perform alongside the company in this large, professional theatre.  They performed confidently, creatively and passionately in front of a very large audience!

    Dear Parents and Carers,

Firstly thank you so much for taking the time to complete and return the national autistic society questionnaires we sent you. Our moderation has finished and I am extremely pleased to tell you that the reviewers were thoroughly impressed with our autism practice throughout the school.

In previous moderations we have achieved the highest category they are able to award and this time is no different. We have published a summary document for your information 'for this please click on the link below' however the full written report will be available from them in approximately 8 weeks. You will note that they have only factored in a tiny sample of the questionnaires you sent but in the final report, the full set will be considered.
