Fulham Cross Academy

    Queensmill @ Fulham Cross Academy

The Q4 resource base is a co-educational provision for secondary aged students with a diagnosis of Autism. The resource base model is rooted in the idea of holistic and inclusive educational practice and student wellbeing is an absolute priority.

The Q4 resource base is extremely well positioned being physically based in a large dedicated space on the Fulham Cross Academy site. Fulham Cross Academy is a highly regarded secondary STEM school that is community focused and has a strong ethos of inclusion for all.

The Q4 resource base students are dual registered and are a valued part of both Queensmill School and Fulham Cross Academy family. Teachers in the resource base are SEN and Autism specialists who are able to support students with the development of social communication and emotional regulation skills, as well as highly differentiated and personalised curriculum where needed.

The partnership between the two schools also allows Q4 students to, where appropriate, access mainstream lessons, resources and subject specialist teachers. The type and amount of mainstream inclusion a student will access is based on student interest and ability both academically and with regard to their self- regulation abilities. Student and parental preference along with the student’s independents skills also play a role in this decision. Some Q4 students will attend mainstream lessons with the goal of improving social interaction, where others may be working towards qualifications in GCSE’s BTech or Functional skills.

In addition to academic qualifications Q4 students have plenty of opportunity to be taught by subject specialist teachers in areas such as art, drama, music, PE, computers, yoga and work experience. The Q4 resource base provides a highly creative and supportive environment where all diversity is celebrated, class sizes are small and support and enthusiasm is high.
